Lead designer Ez Jämsen describes Frostrail as guns-first rather than melee-first. Pistols, shotguns, rifles, and machine guns form the announced firearm families, with basic melee available earlier and a secondary melee action on ranged weapons.
Ammunition is framed as a valuable resource, so the official design messaging treats combat as a serious cost rather than an unlimited shooting gallery.
The developers say firearms are craftable and modular. In the official Assembly Station screenshot, the Bolt-Action Rifle uses interchangeable stocks and displays a concrete assembly requirement: slag metal ×5, wood ×3, and cloth ×2.
That screen lists Wooden, Padded, and Bare Bolt-Action Rifle Stock options. The selected Padded stock weighs 0.3 kg and shows +0.0% recoil and +0.0% stability in that captured build.
The screenshot values are official visual evidence, but they belong to an in-development build and are not presented as final Early Access balance. Damage rankings remain inappropriate because no comparable public stat panel exists for the Pipe Rifle, pistols, shotguns, machine guns, or melee weapons.
Official screenshot values are published with a pre-release label. Unshown damage, ammo types, rarity, recipes, and drop rates remain TBA instead of being inferred from the reference design or unrelated weapons.
