Resource loop
The crew leaves the train to scavenge settlements, wreckage, ruins, bunkers, strongholds, and dungeons, then brings recovered materials back to onboard stations. Resources support weapons, equipment, repair, expansion, storage, heat, and motion.
Aku Jauhiainen gives one concrete production example: metal scraps are processed into slag metal and then pure metal. He says wood and plastic follow similar refinement logic, but does not publish every intermediate name or ratio.
- Scavenge the frozen levels
- Return materials to the train
- Refine metal scraps → slag metal → pure metal
- Use comparable refining systems for wood and plastic

Documented material requirement
One official Steam screenshot provides exact pre-release material quantities for assembling the pictured Bolt-Action Rifle: five slag metal, three wood, and two cloth. This is valid screenshot evidence, but it should not be generalized to other guns or assumed final for Q4 2026 Early Access.
