Frostrail Demo

Frostrail's Steam Next Fest demo is scheduled for October 19–26, 2026. Explore three areas, conduct the Eden Engine, scavenge and craft supplies, and fight Revenants before the planned Early Access release.

Upcoming: October 19–26; not available yet

When can you play the Frostrail demo?

The October 7 announcement sets the demo window at October 19–26, 2026. As of October 8, it is upcoming. The announcement does not give an exact opening hour or time zone, so use the Steam listing when the window begins rather than relying on an unofficial countdown.

What is included in the demo?

The official content graphic lists three explorable areas and three core activities: conducting the train, scavenging and crafting, and fighting Revenants. That gives you a way to try the expedition-and-return loop: leave the Eden Engine for supplies, bring useful materials back, and keep the train ready for the next stop.

The graphic does not identify all three areas or publish a complete item list. It also does not state whether every station, weapon, Relic, or upgrade shown elsewhere is available in this demo.

  • Explore three areas
  • Conduct your train
  • Scavenge and craft
  • Fight Revenants

Where do you download the Frostrail demo?

Use the official Frostrail Steam store page during the announced window and look for the demo download option. The October announcement does not describe a friend-invite requirement or an exact download-button label. The old Closed Beta's Request Access and invitation rules should not be used as instructions for this event.

  • Open Frostrail on Steam
  • Check for the demo download during October 19–26
  • Confirm that you are downloading the demo rather than treating an old Playtest entry as a new release

Which languages does the demo support?

The official demo graphic lists English, French, German, Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese. It does not explain where the language setting appears or promise full voice acting in those languages. The main Steam listing separates interface and subtitles from full audio.

Preparing for your first run

Start with the train rather than a weapon ranking. Learn how to return to the Eden Engine, keep track of warmth, and identify what each gathered material can be used for. If you play with friends, agree on a return route and share supplies before splitting up.

Old Beta recipes and screenshot stats may change in the demo. Check the recipe visible in your build before spending materials; a pre-release number is useful context, not a guarantee.

  • Read the beginner guide for the expedition loop
  • Keep the return route and warmth in mind
  • Check in-game recipe quantities before crafting
  • Compare your build with the date beside a Wiki value

Will demo progress carry into Early Access?

No carryover promise appears in the October 7 announcement. It does not document demo save ownership, manual saves, save transfer from the Closed Beta, or persistence after October 26. Plan around trying the game rather than assuming this run will become your Early Access save.

Is October 19 the Frostrail release date?

October 19 is the announced demo opening date. The Steam listing still gives Q4 2026 for Early Access, with no exact launch day or price. The August 31–September 7 Closed Beta is a completed test, and the October demo is a separate event.

What PC do you need for the demo?

Steam currently lists a 64-bit processor and operating system requirement, while CPU, GPU, RAM and storage fields have not been published. The October announcement does not add a separate hardware table. A player saying the Beta ran on a Steam Deck does not establish official Deck support or a performance target for this demo.
